Michael is an alumnus of the University of British Columbia, receiving his Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) in 2008. In 2011, Michael obtained his law degree from the University of Toronto and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2012. He articled and practised corporate law for 4 years at the law firm of Dentons Canada LLP before joining Pacific Northwest LNG in 2016 as an independent contractor working in their in-house legal department. Michael continued to serve his Alma Mater during that time through his membership in the UBC Behaviour Research Ethics Board for 5 years. Michael joined the Office of the University Counsel in 2017.
